The Full Story
Born from Blackwater Lodge "Blackwater" by Blackwater creator and co-founder Al Clark, Archer Tactical Group is an evolution and creation of what "was good and functioning" from the old Blackwater blueprint and expanded to the next generation of National Security and beyond the tip-of-the-spear technology centric operation. Getting away from the old Blackwater broken model of just a training and boots-on-the-ground security company, that new entity became Longbow Global and Longbow International Group (Longbow), evolving into the current ARCHER branding.
Al Clark
Career as a Navy SEAL:
During his service, Al was recognized as a true American hero, participating in numerous missions that underscored his bravery and commitment to the United States. His experiences as a US Navy SEAL (DEVGRU) profoundly shaped his approach to leadership and security, enabled him to see and envision the future "next leap" in tactics and training that was needed for the US Military and tip-of-the-spear operations globally.
Founding Blackwater:
Motivated by a desire to maintain ties with the SEALs community and to continue serving his country in a significant capacity, Al created the vision for a new training company and platform on the back of a napkin during a SEAL mission. Not having the capital resources to get this new creation and land acquisitions complete, Al brought on Eric Prince who had similar interest and family money from his dad's automotive parts manufacturing business in Michigan. Al Clark co-founded Blackwater Worldwide in 1997 with Eric Prince. The company started as a training facility aimed at advanced training and tactics for the military and law enforcement personnel and broadened into security during the US terrorist attacks of 9/11.
Blackwater experienced operational strain with contracts given from the US government during America's and its allies War on Terror, and lost the quality of staff as it tried to fill contract requirements with bodies ("beating hearts") to fulfil its contract staff levels, forgoing fully trained and disciplined personnel. Al Clark split from Eric Prince and the Blackwater entity due to the direction he saw the firm heading. This decision chain reacted into Blackwater's errors and the lack of program and project management that lead to the company's demise and various renaming pushes (Xe & Academi). Archer Tactical Group (specifically David Tollaksen) approached key leadership (within Kaseman and DC Capital Partners) about an acquisition of its various facilities, in particular the Moyock, NC USA facility and discussions of the blueprint for the buying-up of smaller companies vying for training contracts. This included Archer larger acquisition sights such as and specifically Triple Canopy, Kaseman and a few others. DC Capital Partners then made the play to snap up Academy, Triple Canopy, DynCorp, PAE and others based on these conversation sets. Currently the entire old Blackwater and other entities were later consolidated and remain under the company Constellis. Archer Tactical continued its blueprint separately to create its operations not core-centric with training, as that service only an small amenity in the overall Global & National Security framework.
Al Clark passed away May 2015.
